“The importance of bone marrow donation”

Thanks to the “Asociación Deportiva Cultural El Cerro de La Llosa” of Muskiz, today we have had an exceptional talk at the centre by BioCruces Bizkaia, the leading health research institute in Bizkaia, who have come to talk to us about bone marrow transplants and childhood cancer.

The speakers, Itziar Astigarraga, Cruces Paediatric Oncology Coordinator, and Araitz Zuazo, Territorial Bone Marrow Transplant Coordinator, explained to our 2nd year Baccalaureate students the importance of research in the fight against cancer, the most common cancers in children, as well as the need to promote healthy habits to prevent their appearance in adults.

This talk is part of the activities organised for the MELLO SARIA to be held on 5 November, which this year will donate all the money raised to the BioCruces Health Research Institute. The Mayor of Muskiz, Eduardo Briones, and the Councillor for Culture, Ainara Leiba, joined the event.
