Colombian students immerse in Basque VET

A group of 12 Colombian students visited our centre as part of an educational mobility programme organised by the Colombian National Learning Service (SENA) in collaboration with the Basque Government through Tknika. The participants, selected from different vocational training centres in Colombia, are specialised in areas related to energy and, especially, renewable energies.

During their stay in the Basque Country, the students toured the facilities of several VET centres, including Tknika, Usurbil, Tolosaldea, Miguel Altuna and San Jorge, where they were able to learn first-hand about the methodology that characterises the Basque educational model. At our centre, the ‘apprentices’ had the opportunity to participate in a practical challenge, accompanied by students from Higher VET in Renewable Energies, which allowed them to apply the knowledge acquired and experience our way of teaching in a collaborative environment.

This experience has been an excellent opportunity to value the similarities between the educational systems of Colombia and the Basque Country and to promote cultural and academic exchange between students from both countries.

SENA, Colombia’s National Learning Service, is a public institution that leads technical and technological training in the country. Its mission is to offer millions of Colombians a high quality education, with a focus on the development of labour skills and entrepreneurship, adjusted to the needs of the market and the local economy. With free and accessible programmes in various areas, SENA trains students, workers and companies to foster the personal and professional growth of its citizens, becoming a fundamental pillar for the social and economic development of Colombia.
