BIDEAN 2026: four years of memories, friendship and growth

More than a hundred Year 10 pupils from the Somorrostro Training Centre attended the BIDEAN 2026 gala yesterday at the Meatzari Aretoa in Muskiz, an emotional event that marked the end of a crucial stage in their lives and signalled a new step forward on their personal and academic journeys.

Family members, teachers and classmates joined the day’s protagonists at a ceremony designed to celebrate everything they had experienced over the past four years. The event was presided over by Txema Sáenz, the school’s educational coordinator, alongside the academic heads of the year group, Iratxe Martínez and Juan Lorenzo, and was also attended by the form tutors of the five 4year ESO classes.

The gala began with a solemn welcome aurresku performed by Lezo, a Year 12 student, and Jon Ander, a teacher at the school, accompanied on the txistu by Marcos Cucó, setting the scene for an afternoon filled with memories and emotions.

The presentation was led by Mikel and Noa, students who hosted the event with warmth and ease, ensuring there was no shortage of smiles, applause and even a few tears. One of the most special moments came with the screening of a photo montage that looked back at some of the most significant memories of this year group since they first arrived at the school. A visual journey that showed just how much these young people have grown and changed since those early days in secondary school.

Next, each group took to the stage to receive their graduation certificates from their form tutors, who offered words of affection, recognition and encouragement for the future. The students also had the opportunity to address the audience through a series of speeches in which they reflected on shared experiences, friendships forged over the years, and their gratitude to their families and teachers for the support they had received throughout their time at school.

The grand finale came with the premiere of a fun and heart-warming video clip featuring all the Year 10 pupils, made especially for the occasion and set to the music of ABBA. A unique memento that will forever be linked to this year group and which brought smiles to the faces of everyone present.

After the ceremony, students and their families continued to celebrate this special day at the photo booth set up by the centre, capturing a moment that marks the end of one chapter and the start of new challenges.

From the Somorrostro Training Centre, we would like to congratulate all the students of the BIDEAN 2026 cohort and wish them all the best in the new chapter they are now embarking upon. We will continue to support them on their journey.
