Euromaster Automoción y Servicios, SAU chain and the Somorrostro Training Centre have signed a collaboration agreement by which the tyre company becomes one of the centre’s gold sponsors in the 5th edition of the EUSKELEC project organised annually by Tknika (a centre promoted by the Vice-Ministry of Vocational Training to promote innovation in the Basque Country’s vocational training centres).
Euskelec is a competition in which students from vocational training centres in the Basque Country design and build a 100% electric vehicle on a common motor base (motor, motor controller and batteries) with the aim of promoting teamwork among the students and basing experimental and creative activity as a pedagogical element on the technical knowledge of electric vehicles.
The championship is a platform for the training and promotion of technicians specialising in electric drive vehicles and promotes experimentation with new manufacturing techniques and the use of new materials.
On the morning of Tuesday, representatives of the multinational chain have handed over to the students of the school, the cheque with their contribution to the project, which makes them the main sponsor for this course. Teachers and students of the somo.racing team and the director of the school wanted to thank Euromaster for their collaboration, “especially valuing the involvement in this type of project at a time when it is not easy to find sponsors”.
Somorrostro is a reference centre in the Basque Country, with more than 2100 students enrolled in formal education (ESO, Baccalaureate and VET), celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. It has participated in all editions of the EUSKELEC project, being the winner of the first edition held in Vitoria-Gasteiz in 2018 and obtaining the Innovation Award, First Prize in phase I (presentation and defence of the project) and third place in the final classification in the test held last year.
