ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Entrepreneurship is a cornerstone of the Somorrostro Training Centre, as, in addition to fostering the personal and professional growth of students and entrepreneurs, it promotes innovation, creativity and the ability to generate business ideas with a real impact on Basque society. At our centre, we foster an entrepreneurial culture through training, support and collaboration, aligning ourselves with the Basque Country’s economic policies and strategies, which regard entrepreneurship as a key driver of sustainable economic development, job creation and digital and industrial transformation. This alignment reinforces the centre’s commitment to the local business community and to training people capable of leading projects that deliver added value.

How do we promote entrepreneurship at Somorrostro?

  • Raising awareness of entrepreneurship:
    • DEMA’s ENPRESARI workshops: these sessions explore various aspects of entrepreneurship with students and feature first-hand accounts from entrepreneurs who have set up their own businesses, explaining what the process was like for them – from coming up with the idea to launching the business – whilst highlighting both the challenges they had to overcome and the rewards they derive from running their own business.
    • PROVIDER Awareness Days: events to promote technology and entrepreneurship, aimed at students and technical teaching staff.
    • WORKLAN talks:lectures on the economy and social entrepreneurship, and on co-operative and worker-owned companies, aimed at both students and teaching staff.
    • Awareness-raising sessions organised by ECONOMISTAS SIN FRONTERAS: sessions designed to encourage a critical and entrepreneurial perspective on the current economic model and its social and environmental impacts.
    • Encuentro de Estudiantes de IKASENPRESA: a space where vocational training students have the opportunity to present and develop the entrepreneurial projects they have been working on in the classroom as part of the IKASENPRESA programme, sharing ideas and learning in the various workshops to further develop them.
    • IKASENPRESA Azoka: an entrepreneurship fair held in Eibar, where students taking part in the IKASENPRESA programme have the opportunity to discover and showcase business ideas and prototypes.
    • ANNUAL FAIR OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP at Somorrostro: event dedicated to recognising, celebrating and promoting the entrepreneurial spirit. We are joined by the region’s leading organisations in the field of entrepreneurship, including Meatzaldeko Behargintza, DEMA, BIC EZKERRALDEA, ASLE, SECOT, Mondragón Unibertsitatea, WORKLAN, FORLAN and CÁMARABILBAO.
  • Participation in entrepreneurship programmes and competitions:
