Somorrostro, among the best start-up projects in Bizkaia at the ENPRESARI 2026 Awards

The BERAZI project, developed by four Business and Finance students, has won one of the awards at the 25th edition of DEMA’s entrepreneurship programme

Entrepreneurship once again had a Somorrostro flavour at the 2026 Enpresari Awards ceremony, held on 9 June at the Euskalduna Conference Centre in Bilbao. The BERAZI project, developed by four second-year students on the Higher Level VET in Administration and Finance, was recognised as one of the best business projects of this year’s edition, winning one of the prizes worth €500.

The key figures behind this success are Erick Alonso, Nahia García, Rubén Gomes and Oihane Sáez, who, alongside their teachers Aitor San Vicente and Iratxe González, presented a business proposal that stands out both for its viability and its significant social impact.

This achievement is all the more significant given the scale of the competition. In this special edition, coinciding with DEMA’s 25th anniversary, a total of 460 business ideas were submitted from vocational training centres in Bizkaia. Of these, 178 were at Intermediate Level and 282 at Advanced Level. Following a rigorous selection process, only 161 projects were chosen to develop a full business plan and compete for the final prizes.

Bringing psychological support to those who need it most

The idea put forward by the students at Somorrostro stems from a reality that is becoming increasingly prevalent in our society: the difficulties many people face in accessing psychological support services due to distance, mobility issues or a lack of specialist resources in certain areas.

BERAZI was established to meet this need; it is a company that provides psychological services via a specially equipped mobile unit capable of conducting professional consultations anywhere in the region.

The initiative involves a vehicle fitted with all the amenities of a conventional consultation room: soundproofed spaces to ensure privacy, adapted furniture, air conditioning, a water supply, and an environment designed to promote the well-being of those using the service.

As well as making these services more accessible, the project aims to reduce travel times and transport costs, thereby removing one of the barriers that often influence the decision to seek professional help.

Innovation with a commitment to social and environmental responsibility

One of the aspects the jury valued most highly was the comprehensive nature of the proposal. BERAZI not only offers an innovative solution to a significant social problem but also incorporates a firm commitment to sustainability.

The mobile unit would be powered by an electric vehicle and would feature solar panels to meet part of its energy needs, thereby reducing its environmental impact and aligning with the goals of sustainable development and the green transition.

It is, therefore, an initiative that combines innovation, social responsibility and sustainability – three elements that are increasingly in demand in today’s business world.

Learning through entrepreneurship

The award is also the result of the work carried out as part of the Enpresari programme, an initiative launched by DEMA which aims to introduce vocational training students to business start-ups as a genuine alternative for their future careers.

Through workshops, specialist advice and various stages of work, participants transform an initial idea into a fully-fledged business project. The process includes selection interviews, developing a business plan, creating audiovisual materials, and the final presentation of the proposal to a panel of industry experts.

Beyond the financial prizes, the programme enables students to develop key skills such as creativity, teamwork, communication, strategic planning and the ability to identify business opportunities.

The recognition received by BERAZI demonstrates once again the talent, initiative and entrepreneurial spirit of the students at Somorrostro, as well as the centre’s commitment to promoting vocational training connected to the social, economic and environmental challenges of our time.

Zorionak Erick, Nahia, Rubén and Oihane, for embodying the entrepreneurial spirit of Somorrostro so well and turning a good idea into a project with the real potential to improve people’s lives.
