On Wednesday 27 September, we presented the EUSKELEC project to the students who had shown interest in joining the team this year. In a hall with more than 125 students, the communication team, the “team leader” and the pilot from last year explained the characteristics of this project organised by TKNIKA (Basque Government Centre dedicated to research and innovation applied to Vocational Training) and in which vocational training centres from all over the country participate.
Euskelec is a competition in which students from vocational training centres in the Basque Country design and build a 100% electric vehicle on a common motor base (motor, motor controller and batteries) with the aim of promoting teamwork among the students and basing experimental and creative activity as a pedagogical element on technical knowledge of electric vehicles.
Last year, the “Somorrostro Motorsport” team, made up of students from the intermediate and advanced Automotive and Telecommunications courses and the advanced Marketing and Advertising course, won the Innovation Award and third place in the overall classification of the competition, after having carried out some excellent dynamic tests and finishing eighth in the endurance test.
