The vice-chancellor of the Basque Country, Mikel Torres, inaugurates the Petronor OPPC course in Abanto with the presence of Somorrostro

Somorrostro Training Center has been present this Monday at the official presentation of the Continuous Process Plant Operator (OPPC) course, promoted by Basque Hydrogen and Petronor at the EIC – Energy Intelligence Center, in the Abanto-Zierbena Technology Park.

The event was attended by the second vice-president of the Basque Government and Minister of Economy, Labor and Employment, Mikel Torres, who highlighted “the strategic value of this advanced training initiative aimed at the decarbonization of the industry”. Torres congratulated both the 25 participants in the course and the entities involved for betting on a training model aligned with the challenges of the future. After the presentation, the vice-chancellor traveled to Muskiz to learn from José Ignacio Zudaire, assistant to the CEO of Petronor, and Manu Núñez, director of Petronor Innovation, about the new decarbonization projects that Petronor has underway.

Representing our center were the director, Javier Laiseca, and the innovation director, Sergio San Martín, who actively participated in the presentation of the training program. The course is aimed at unemployed people with a higher vocational training degree, and is part of a comprehensive plan to prepare professionals who will start up and operate key facilities in the hydrogen ecosystem, such as the 10 MW electrolyzer and Petronor’s synthetic fuels plant.

From Somorrostro we reaffirm our commitment to vocational training connected to the industrial fabric, the energy transition and quality employment.
