Muskiz and the Somorrostro Training Centre join the Xarxa FP association.

Jordi Castillo and Ana Pozuelo, in charge of the secretariat of the Xarxa FP Association, together with Ainara Leiba, mayoress of Muskiz, Urtzi Alea, councillor for culture, Javier Laiseca, director of Somorrostro and Sergio San Martín, head of innovation, sealed the incorporation of Muskiz and the Somorrostro Training Centre into the network of Xarxa FP municipalities on 24 February in our centre.

XarxaFP was created in 1999 and brings together cities from 15 European countries working together in the field of Mobility and Innovation in Vocational Education and Training. Xarxa FP promotes work-based learning experiences across Europe for both VET students and professionals.

Funding for VET mobility actions comes mostly from the Erasmus+ programme. The main added value of the network, among others, is that the cooperation is based on mutual trust, so partners are not charged for the management of mobilities and the development of new projects, i.e. they do not have to rely on intermediary agencies, and the host centres are responsible for the mobilities. In 2019 Xarxa FP organised 756 mobility actions between 29 European cities members of the network: 539 internships for VET students and 217 training actions for VET teachers.

Xarxa FP brings together 38 European cities from 15 countries working together on mobility and innovation in VET. Together they represent more than 600 vocational training schools, with more than 250,000 students. Madrid, Lisbon, Rome and Munich are examples of the cities that belong to this network, which Muskiz now joins, being the only Basque municipality in the network.
