LEHEN AUKERA: first job opportunities for young people with the support of Somorrostro

Thanks to this initiative, we have managed to formalise more than 240 employment contracts for young people in the Basque Country

The registration period for the Lehen Aukera programme, an initiative promoted by Lanbide to promote the integration into the labour market of people under 30 years of age, ended on 31 October. This programme, designed specifically for unemployed young people with little or no experience in their field of training, aims to offer a first professional experience in Basque companies. Through financial aid, Lanbide encourages companies to hire young people in areas related to their academic qualifications, thus opening doors to future professionals.

From the Somorrostro Training Centre, and especially through the Employment Access Centre (CAE), we have been committed to supporting both young people and companies in this process. Our team has worked closely with more than 130 companies, advising them on the search for young talent and helping them to apply for these grants. Thanks to this effort, more than 240 employment contracts have been formalised, mainly in Bizkaia, but also in Alava and Gipuzkoa.

The Role of the CAE: Bridge between Youth and Enterprises

Our Employment Access Centre (EAC) has played an essential role in this programme, working on two fronts:

  • Support for Companies: We help companies to incorporate young talent into their workforces. Through this programme, companies have the opportunity to hire young people with university education, Vocational Training, or Certificates of Professionalism, providing their teams with new profiles full of energy and up-to-date knowledge.
  • Support for Young People: The programme is aimed at former students and young people under 30 years of age from our environment who are unemployed. To benefit, they must be registered in our Employment Exchange and the Basque Employment Service-Lanbide, making sure that their details are up to date. This means that, by being in direct contact with companies, we can match their needs with the skills of our young people.

This collaboration not only opens doors for the employment of young people in Basque companies but also allows us to be in constant contact with the demands of the market. This helps us to guide our students and to continue strengthening their employability at a key stage of their professional development.

With programmes such as Lehen Aukera, Somorrostro Training Centre reinforces its commitment to the future employment of young people and to creating a direct bridge between the academic world and the labour market.
