The employment integration programme, run by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, offers a personalised programme of guidance, training and job placement with companies to facilitate access to the labour market.
Today, 23 September, the Somorrostro Training Centre has kicked off the sixth edition of Lan Berri, a job placement programme organised by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, in which our centre is participating in partnership with HETEL.
This morning we welcomed the 12 young people who will be taking part in this new edition and who are embarking on a support programme aimed at improving their professional skills, broadening their employment opportunities and facilitating their entry into the labour market.
The participants are mainly from the Higher-Level Vocational Training courses in Administration and Finance, Marketing and Advertising, and Chemistry and Environmental Health. Six of them have studied at Somorrostro, whilst the other six come from various vocational training centres in Bizkaia.
A personalised pathway to employment
Lan Berri is an initiative aimed at young people aged up to 30, registered as residents in Bizkaia, who wish to improve their employability through a process of guidance, activation, training and job placement.
Throughout the programme, each participant will follow a personalised pathway, tailored to their needs, prior training and career goals. The support will combine one-to-one sessions and group activities, with a particular focus on developing the skills needed to thrive in today’s labour market.
The main areas of focus include career guidance, support with job-seeking, technical and digital training, training on equality, and the development of personal, interpersonal and organisational skills.
Furthermore, one of the key aspects of the programme is liaising with employers, which will connect participants with genuine employment opportunities and facilitate their transition from training into the world of work.
A programme with proven results
The experience gained at Somorrostro over the course of the previous five editions demonstrates the effectiveness of this support model, which has achieved an 80 per cent employment rate amongst participants.
With this sixth edition, our centre is renewing its commitment to helping young people enter the labour market and to developing initiatives that help improve their career prospects.
For the 12 participants, today marks the start of a new journey on which they will have the support, guidance and resources they need to face their future careers with greater confidence.
Because at Somorrostro we understand that our work does not end when students complete their studies: supporting each person as they take their next steps is also part of our approach to training.
