The Somorrostro Training Center has been recognized on Lanbide’s Konektalan platform as an example of innovation thanks to its GARENA project, a pioneering initiative to ensure the transmission of the “Somorrostro Style” at a time of great generational change.
The challenge: maintaining the essence in times of change
In just five years, 41 people from our organization will retire, including seven key leaders. The risk was clear: losing the educational and cultural style that defines us. The growth of the center and generational changes meant that the traditional welcome was no longer sufficient to convey the essence of our project.
The solution: The GARENA Project
In response to this challenge, the GARENA Project was designed by the center, integrated into the Strategic Plan and co-designed with the consulting firm Equilia.
-
A Talent Matrix was created to identify 21 mentors..
-
The onboarding process was redesigned, incorporating annual training and biweekly mentoring sessions known as “GARENA Cafés.”.
-
All this with one goal in mind: that new hires not only learn processes, but also experience the center’s values, commitment, and culture firsthand.
The impact
To date, 53 people have been supported during their early years in Somorrostro, and 21 professionals have served as mentors.
The results speak for themselves: the average rating for the project has been over 8 out of 10 among those involved.
As the center’s director, Javier Laiseca, points out:
“95% of newcomers say they feel more connected to the Center’s purpose after Garena”.
This recognition at Konektalan reaffirms our commitment to educational and organizational innovation, always at the service of the people and the future of Somorrostro.
