In the Electronic Maintenance Higher VET Cycle at Somorrostro, innovation is not only an objective, it is the engine of each class. Our students do not limit themselves to acquiring technical knowledge: they live technology from the inside, they transform it, apply it and share it.

Throughout the course, the projects developed by the students have been an example of how theory becomes practice and how teamwork, creativity and knowledge lead to spectacular results. In the video that accompanies this article you can see some of these works in action:

🔧 Back on the track: we brought an old broken-down scalextric back to life. The students designed and welded a new power supply to make the cars roar again… and all with a good dose of humor in the fake shots!

🔌 Playing with energy: thanks to testers and autotransformers, our students have learned to measure voltages and currents and have been able to power a light bulb in a controlled way, understanding the flow of electrical energy.

🌡️ Industrial control from scratch: through a didactic model, we have worked with PID control systems (Proportional, Integral, Derivative) to manage the temperature of a room. A project with potential that is already being presented to the Ministry for possible funding as a research project.

📷 Image processing with Arduino: the students have developed systems capable of capturing images, processing them and sending them to the cloud. A challenge that brought together electronics, software and web design.

🔊 Sound that is built and controlled: from the manufacture of the loudspeaker to the power supply, volume system and audio inputs, the students have created a complete and functional system.

🎧 Let’s get into DJ mode: as a final experience, we have worked on the sound and lighting of events, using DMX protocols and DJ controllers to mix music and control lights with a technical and professional vision.

This tour through the projects shows that at Somorrostro vocational training is lived passionately, applied and future-oriented. Electronics is not only learned here: it is played, listened to and transformed.
