The last week before the Easter holidays, five students from the 1st year of the Higher VET Course in Renewable Energies and their teachers Vanessa Moreno and Maialen Artetxe lived an unforgettable experience in Växjö, a city located in the south of Sweden and internationally known for its commitment to sustainability.
The exchange is part of the Erasmus+ program and has been an excellent opportunity to share learning, get to know other ways of understanding technical training and put scientific communication into practice in a real context.
During their stay, the students presented a comparative study of the operation and performance of a solar photovoltaic installation in Muskiz and in Växjö, and had the opportunity to see first-hand the work carried out in the classrooms of the Teknikum school, host of the project. Subjects such as chemistry, design or engines served as a framework for sharing knowledge, experiences and many smiles.
In addition to the academic enrichment, our students and teachers have enjoyed the stunning Swedish nature, the kindness of the educational community of Teknikum and a city that is a benchmark in energy sustainability. It is not for nothing that Växjö was the first city in the world to commit to becoming fossil fuel free, with a zero emission target for 2030.
From Somorrostro we can only thank the close and hospitable treatment received by the Teknikum colleagues. Now we can only look forward to their visit next year.
After all, Europe is also built in the classroom.
