Somorrostro joins World Breast Cancer Day

“BIHOTZEAN ELKARTASUNA”

October 19 marks World Breast Cancer Day, a date promoted by the World Health Organization (WHO) that seeks to raise awareness about the importance of early detection and treatment of this disease.

Today, Friday the 17th, at Somorrostro, we wanted to join in this commemoration in a very special way. Nearly 1,000 people, including students, teachers, and staff, formed a large human chain around the entire school, turning the courtyards and hallways pink to show our support for all those who are fighting or have fought breast cancer.

More than 600 high school and vocational training students, dressed in pink and holding a large ribbon, surrounded the center until they reached the sports fields, where the secondary school students were waiting for us, forming a giant pink ribbon. There, the atmosphere was filled with emotion when we heard “Bihotzean Beldurra,” a beautiful song composed by a 2nd-year secondary school student especially for this day.

The event ended with a festive moment in which all the students wanted to take photos to show their support for the cause and for the Muskiz Cancer Association, with whom we organized this very meaningful day. Thanks to their involvement, and that of our entire educational community, we experienced a morning full of solidarity, awareness, and hope.
