At Somorrostro Training Centre we are firmly committed to training in emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Big Data, areas that are transforming the labour and social landscape. This commitment is reflected both in the activities carried out at our centre and in our participation in national initiatives that promote excellence in these fields.
Training day on AI and Big Data
Recently, we organised a conference aimed at higher education students to present the specialisation course in AI and Big Data that we have been teaching for the last two years. The session began with an introduction by our lecturer Jon Ander Maiz, who explained the characteristics of the programme, job opportunities and specialisation opportunities.
Afterwards, professionals from collaborating companies such as Lanit, Global Data Quantum, Sarenet and Securitas shared real projects that show the impact of these technologies in sectors such as cybersecurity, the energy industry and forest fire prevention. In addition, alumni such as Aimar Cantalapiedra and Asier Fernández inspired the students by discussing their careers in technology.
Meeting of Centres of Excellence in Madrid
On 5 December, Somorrostro took part in the first national meeting of Vocational Training Centres of Excellence, held in La Nave (Madrid). As a Centre of Excellence in AI and Big Data, we shared a stand with IES Ribera del Tajo and presented the innovative IngeWind AI project, an intelligent assistant developed together with Global Data Quantum and Ingeteam. This system supports wind turbine operators with accurate and real-time information, standing out for its scalability and usefulness in industrial sectors.
During the event, our students from the AI and Big Data specialisation course interacted with figures such as Minister Pilar Alegría, who highlighted the importance of projects such as IngeWind AI, and President Pedro Sánchez, who underlined the transformative role of Vocational Training in Spain.
