On Saturday 17th May, the Somorrostro Training Centre took part in the ‘Eleiza plazara’ event, the central event of the celebrations for the 75th anniversary of the Diocese of Bilbao, held at the BEC in Barakaldo. A multitudinous event, full of life, attended by more than 3,000 people from all corners of the diocese.

Throughout the day there was a joyful and family atmosphere, with activities for all ages: workshops, talks, children’s games, musical performances, prayer areas and a large area of stands where the richness and diversity of diocesan life was on display.

Somorrostro Centre, together with the rest of the centres of the EBI (Elizbarrutiko Ikastetxeak) network, was present with its own stand where we presented our educational offer and our Christian centre model, based on inclusive education, the accompaniment of people and attention to diversity. We presented the work we carry out both in Initial Training (ESO, Bachillerato and Vocational Training) and in Training for Employment throughout the entire professional trajectory.

It was a day of encounters, celebration and hope, in which people of all ages – from newborns to 96-year-old mothers – shared a common history built up over decades, and also new shoots of the future represented by children and young people who are beginning their journey in the diocesan community today.
