As part of the activities of the CF Somorrostro Centre of Excellence in AI and Big Data, a proof of concept (POC) has been developed in collaboration with Lanit, a company specialising in technology and business consulting, and Berdin, a leading group in electrical and industrial solutions with more than 40 years of experience. The collaboration with Lanit has been fundamental to the success of the project, thanks to its extensive experience in advanced data analytics and digital transformation.
The project has been led from CF Somorrostro by Paola Álvarez and Jon Ander Maiz, professors of the AI and Big Data specialisation.
Project Objective
The project focused on analysing the billing behaviour of Berdin’s customers to identify unusual patterns that allow early detection of customers at risk of decline or churn. In addition, the developed solution assesses the degree of deterioration in the relationship with each customer, anticipating possible variations in their purchasing trends that could indicate a potential risk.
Challenges Addressed
- Customer segmentation: Classification of customers into different clusters according to their billing trends and behaviour.
- Definition of Synthetic Variables: Creation of specific variables adapted to the use case for an accurate predictive model.
- Purchase Trend Analysis: Identification of changing patterns in customer buying habits.
- Creation of Detection Rules: Establishment of criteria to detect significant changes in customer behaviour.
- Automated Alerts: Implementation of a system that notifies the sales team of customers at risk, facilitating proactive actions.
Benefits for CF Somorrostro
This project has provided CF Somorrostro with practical experience in the implementation of machine learning solutions in real environments. It has provided an in-depth understanding of the internal workings of a company, interaction with clients and the processes of requesting and handling data, providing up-to-date knowledge in a field that is constantly evolving.
Transfer to the students
The learnings and experiences gained will be transferred to the students of the AI and Big Data specialisation through practical challenges. These challenges replicate real situations faced during the project, fostering the development of technical and strategic skills in the identification and management of clients at risk, data preparation, predictive modelling and data-driven decision making.
This initiative reinforces CF Somorrostro’s commitment to training highly skilled professionals in emerging technologies, ready to face the challenges of today’s job market.
