The Marcelo Gangoiti 2024 Award recognises the work of the company TEKNIA Bilbao

The company, specialised in the manufacture of metal and plastic components for mobility solutions, has been recognised for its commitment to innovation and constant adaptation to change, which has made it a global and diversified technological partner for the main manufacturers and suppliers in the automotive sector

The event, presented by the journalist Maite Eskarmendi and enlivened by the singer María Rivero, was presided over by the General Deputy of Bizkaia, Ms. Elixabete Etxanobe, accompanied by Mr. Kerman López, Vicar General of the Diocese of Bilbao, Mr. Eduardo Briones, Mayor of Muskiz, Ms. María López, Vice-President of CEBEK, Mr. Aitor Urzelai, General Manager of the SPRI Group and Mr. Javier Laiseca, Director of the Somorrostro Training Centre, among other authorities.

Eduardo Briones, Mayor of Muskiz, opened the event by welcoming all those present to the municipality. Javier Laiseca, director of Somorrostro, thanked all the attendees for their presence at the centre and reminded them that “we continue to renew our commitment to the concerns of Don Marcelo, making the person the real protagonist of their learning process, especially the most vulnerable”.

This edition had as special guests Ms. Cristina Oyón Echevarria (Director of Technology, Innovation and Sustainability at SPRI) and Mr. José Ignacio Hormaeche Azumendi (General Manager of the Basque Country Energy Cluster) who delighted the audience with their talk-colloquium on “decarbonisation and energy transition”.

Mr. Kerman López, Vicar General of the Diocese of Bilbao and trustee of the Marcelo Gangoiti Foundation, owner of the Somorrostro Centre, did not want to miss the opportunity to remember the figure of Don Marcelo “sensitive to the needs not attended to by other bodies in those years of hardship”.

Mrs. Elixabete Etxanobe was in charge of closing the gala showing her “pride that there are cases like Teknia. With clear ideas, with vision. If our economic and business fabric is doing well, Bizkaia and all of us in general are doing well”, she pointed out.

Teknia Bilbao, located in Abanto-Zierbena, is one of the plants of the Teknia Group, a multinational of Basque origin dedicated to the manufacture of metal and plastic components for mobility solutions.

Teknia Bilbao has a team of 130 people and a turnover of over 20 million euros.
