Euskelec 2025: Speed, talent and teamwork

The city of Vitoria-Gasteiz was today the setting for the eighth edition of Euskelec, a competition promoted by the Basque Government through Tknika, in which Vocational Training students from all over Spain compete with 100% electric vehicles designed and assembled by themselves. This year, 24 centres from communities such as Euskadi, Castilla-La Mancha, Cantabria, Castilla y León and Catalonia (participating for the first time) have measured their technical skills and ingenuity in this great event.

From early in the morning, the centre of Vitoria was transformed into a spectacular urban circuit that hosted the combined acceleration, braking and slalom tests, as well as the long-awaited endurance race, in which the vehicles were driven for an hour without a break. In this test, our driver Hodei Brunet achieved a creditable tenth position, competing at the highest level and demonstrating the team’s great work.

But beyond the performance on the track, this event also served to demonstrate the talent and professionalism of the Somorrostro Telecommunications students. Thanks to their work, the whole day could be followed in streaming, with fixed cameras at strategic points of the circuit and onboard cameras installed in the cars. In addition, the technical stand set up by the centre served as a meeting and interview point with the participating teams, authorities and relevant people from the educational and technological fields.

Euskelec is not just a competition: it is the result of months of collaborative work in workshops and classrooms, in which students design, adjust, test and innovate. A project organised by Tknika that seeks to promote teamwork, creative thinking and the real application of technical knowledge in the field of sustainable mobility.

The awards ceremony was presided over by the Deputy Minister for Vocational Training, Jon Labaka, who congratulated the Cantabrian school Nuestra Señora de los Remedios de Guarnizo, winner of the overall test.

Once again, the Somorrostro team has proved to be up to the task, reaffirming our commitment to innovation, sustainability and technical excellence in vocational training.
