Within the framework of International Women’s Day, our centre has carried out an exciting initiative to commemorate this significant date. Organised in collaboration with Muskiz Town Council, the activity combined education, reflection and an emotional intergenerational encounter with the users of the Day Centre.
A symbolic journey for equality
From first thing in the morning, the groups of 1st B, 1st E, 2nd C, 2nd E and 2nd F of Bachillerato, together with the students of the 1st year of the training cycles of AF3, AS2, and Basic Degree of Hairdressing, Electricity and Computer Science, as well as the groups of 3rd year of ESO, have travelled through the streets of Muskiz in a kalejira in protest.
Starting from the school, the march passed through the San Juan school, Autonomía and Las Acacias streets, the Town Hall and finally arrived at the Day Centre, where our students read a manifesto in recognition of the women who, through their struggle and resistance, have opened the way to equality.
A manifesto with commitment
The manifesto, prepared by the centre’s feminist group, highlighted the achievements of generations of women who raised their voices in difficult times:
✔️The right to education for all.
✔️Access to employment in any field without economic dependence on anyone.
✔️ The right to vote, fundamental for freedom and participation in society.
However, they also pointed out the challenges that persist, such as the lack of recognition in women’s sports or the unequal distribution of domestic tasks.
In conclusion, the students expressed their commitment to continue fighting for a fairer world, educating in equality,y and promoting the recognition of women in all areas.
An intergenerational meeting charged with emotion
The most special moment was undoubtedly the meeting with the women of the Muskiz Day Centre. Our students wanted to thank them for their struggle and dedication, recognising that the rights they enjoy today have been possible thanks to their effort and resistance.
This 8M, in addition to demanding equality, we have learned from those who came before us and renewed our commitment to a more equitable future. We continue to move forward!💜
