Our colleagues Sergio Zubillaga and Josu Markina represented Somorrostro at the LCAMP 2025 Conference, held recently in Finspång (Sweden). The meeting, part of the European LCAMP project led by Tknika, brought together vocational training centres from all over Europe with a common goal: to rethink learning in the era of advanced manufacturing..
One of the main focuses of the event was the development and implementation of Learning Factories: environments where students can live a practical, interdisciplinary and challenge-based training experience, simulating real industrial processes with the latest technologies. One of these factories is being designed in our centre, and this trip has served to further advance in its definition and design.
The FLC (Factory for Collaborative Learning) model, scheduled to be launched in September 2026, was presented as a key tool to respond to the real needs of the industry, fostering collaboration between students from different areas and the curricular integration of emerging technologies.
In addition to the presentations and collaborative workshops, attendees visited the industrial plants of Siemens Energy and KL Industri AB, benchmarks in technological innovation. Our colleagues particularly highlighted the level of innovation at Siemens Energy, where state-of-the-art gas turbines are being developed using fuels such as hydrogen, produced in-house using solar energy, biogas and biodiesel. They also highlighted the integration of additive manufacturing (3D printing) as part of the production process for critical components.
The conference ended with a clear message: the LCAMP project does not end here, it has just begun. Participants were invited to join the LCAMP Alliance, an international community focused on educational innovation in the field of advanced manufacturing.
From Somorrostro we reaffirm our commitment to educational innovation and we thank Sergio and Josu for their involvement in a key project for the future of our VET.
