Once again, we have launched the educational project ‘Healthy Breakfasts’ in collaboration with GASCA, the company in charge of our school canteen. The aim of this programme is for students in 1st ESO to learn the importance of a balanced diet, especially at the first meal of the day.
The activity was divided into three parts. First, the students attended a talk given by a dietician, who explained what a complete breakfast should look like. The importance of including fruit, carbohydrates and dairy products was emphasised, and they were advised on the best fruit options (such as kiwi, banana or apple) and healthy juices available on the market.
Afterwards, Jose, the school cook, gave them a tour of the kitchen, where he showed them how to design balanced menus, following the guidelines of the Basque Government. They were also made aware of the importance of eating everything, always seeking a balance between health and taste.
Finally, the students put what they had learned into practice by enjoying a healthy breakfast prepared by GASCA in the school canteen. This experience allowed them to see how good food can be both delicious and nutritious at the same time.
It was a very enriching day for everyone! We hope that it will serve to create healthy eating habits from an early age.
